Initial Consultation Meeting Called

postdateiconMonday, 16 August 2010 15:43 | Print | E-mail

An invitation was sent to a selected number of groups by the PR company working for the Met Police and the City of London Corporation, requesting "one or two representatives" attend an initial meeting with them this Monday. The 'Save Wanstead Flats' campaign was, perhaps surprisingly, one of the 'lucky few' to receive this letter.

At the steering committee meeting it was decided that we would use the opportunity of the meeting on Monday to deliver letters to the Met Police and the City of London Corporation, insisting that they attend a public meeting organised by local residents and proposed for 6 October. On the basis that what they are calling a 'consultation' is hopelessly inadequate, the plan is then to leave once the letters are delivered.

We also agreed that whilst we would give the names of two people to attend, we would encourage as many people as possible to come along on Monday to make it clear that a fake consultation exercise simply isn't good enough.

The meeting will take place tonight at 6.30pm at The Cherry Tree Cafe, 25 Woodbine Place, Wanstead. Do come along!
