Deadline for petitioners

postauthoriconWritten by Beate Hohmann | Print | E-mail

Today (May 9 2011 ) was the deadline for petitioners to respond in writing to the Hybrid Instruments Committee of the House of Lords on the paper that was submitted by the Home Office a fortnight ago commenting on the 9 petitions which were submitted to the House of Lords on April 4 objecting to the plans for a police base on the Flats during the Olympics.

The Hybrid Instruments Committee of 8 peers will meet in private on Monday 23 May to consider the Government's Legislative Reform Order to amend the 1878 Epping Forest Act. We are hoping that they will  appoint a Select Committee to investigate the issues later in the summer. Or before making a decision on this, they may call witnesses to a meeting with them that has been set aside for Wed June 8 if there are any issues that they want to explore further before deciding on whether a Select Committee is needed.
